Inter have been linked again with a move for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul after the club’s new sporting director visited the Nerazzurri’s offices.

Pierpaolo Marino told reporters yesterday he was only there to ‘get back in touch’ following his reappointment with the Bianconeri.

However, Inter’s struggle to secure a deal for Nicolo Barella could open the door to them reviving their interest for the Argentine.

“Officially the clubs didn’t talk about De Paul because he’s not considered the ideal profile for Inter’s midfield,” Corriere dello Sport reported today.

“Barella is expected to fill that position, but Inter still don’t have an agreement with Cagliari despite constant contact.”

De Paul scored nine goals and created eight assists for Udinese last season as they finished 12th in Serie A.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Inter earlier in the year but Antonio Conte’s arrival as head coach led the club to change most of their transfer targets.
