Monaco have offered Inter a loan deal for midfielder Joao Mario, according to FcInterNews.it.

Leonardo Jardim knows the Portuguese international well from his spell as Sporting Lisbon coach and is confident he can revive his ailing career.

The French club want to sign Mario on a paid loan with an option to buy, which would become an obligation if the 26-year-old makes a certain number of appearances next season.

Monaco would have no problem with the player’s €3 million wages, which means there is a genuine chance a deal could be reached.

Inter need €18 million to avoid making a net loss on the midfielder they signed for more than €40 million in 2016.

There is no indication of whether they would accept such a loan offer but it is known they are desperate to move Joao Mario on.

Mario has put Monaco at the top of his wish list and hopes to complete a move to the principality, after talks began back in April.
