Roma will make a last-ditch attempt to snatch Nicolo Barella away from Inter in the coming days, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Giallorossi remain interested in the midfielder and have already seen an offer of €20 million plus Luca Pellegrini and Gregoire Defrel rejected by the Sardinians.

Barella has agreed personal terms with Inter already, though, and does not seem to have any intention of changing his mind.

Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini is hoping the Nerazzurri will increase their offer so the clubs can agree a deal for the 22-year-old.

Barella started all three matches for Italy at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships, scoring in a 3-1 win over Belgium.

Gigi Di Biagio’s side were ultimately eliminated at the group stage but the midfielder nonetheless provided yet more evidence of his talent.

The Rome-based publication reminded readers ‘nothing is impossible in the transfer market’, but it seems unlikely Roma will secure their target.
