Valentino Lazaro will officially become an Inter player next week and should arrive to start preseason training, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Inter reached a deal with Hertha Berlin yesterday for €21 million plus €3 million in add-ons, with the player signing a five-year deal worth €2 million per season.

Antonio Conte wanted the 23-year-old at all costs and this led Inter president Steven Zhang to give the green light to one final raise in negotiations.

“Conte wants to work on the structure of his new team in Switzerland during preseason training and it would have been a real problem to not have Lazaro available,” the paper reported.

The former Juventus and Italy boss believes Lazaro is perfect to play at right wing-back in his 3-5-2 system, having stood out for stamina and pace when featuring for the Bundesliga club.

Antonio Candreva is expected to act as Lazaro’s understudy next season, having been told he will stay at the club thanks to Conte.
