Danilo D’Ambrosio could join Roma as part of Inter’s deal to sign striker Edin Dzeko, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The full-back was one of the Nerazzurri’s most reliable players last season and helped them secure Champions League football with last-minute goal-line clearances against Milan and Empoli.

However, the Rome-based publication today reported he had entered negotiations between the clubs as Inter chase Dzeko.

“D’Ambrosio would free up Luca Pellegrini to join Juventus and allow Rick Karsdorp to sign for PSV Eindhoven,” they said this morning.

Inter were reported recently to be in talks with D’Ambrosio over a new contract, as the Italian enters the final two years of his contract.

Selling the 30-year-old to the Giallorossi would mark a surprising change of heart, one which would likely be unpopular with Nerazzurri supporters.

D’Ambrosio made 30 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring twice and creating five assists under Luciano Spalletti.
