Gabriele Oriali will split his time between Inter and the Italian national team until the Azzurri have taken part in Euro 2020, the Italian Football Federation’s president Gabriele Gravina confirmed today.

Oriali has worked as Italy’s team manager since 2014 and will now be reunited with Antonio Conte at his former club.

However, the 66-year-old will continue his duties with the FIGC after a request from current Italy boss Roberto Mancini.

“We sorted out Oriali’s position with Inter this morning,” Gravina told reporters.

“He asked to have the chance to return to a club he feels is his from an emotional point of view.

“We will respect both Oriali and Mancini’s wishes by having him continue in his position with the FIGC until Euro 2020. I don’t believe there is a precedent for this.”

Oriali made almost 400 appearances in all competitions for Inter during the 1970s and 1980s, helping the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title in 1980.
