Ze Elias has come out and attacked Inter attacker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, brandishing his fellow Brazilian, “overrated.”

Gabigol joined Inter to much fanfare back in 2016 but has come nowhere near close to meeting expectations people had of him. He is currently out on loan at Brazilian giants Flamengo.

“I don’t see Gabigol as a player who is all that great, as much as he did last year. I think he is overrated. It is not his fault, his agent knew how to work,” the former defensive midfielder remarked in an interview with flamengorj.

Ze Elias, who spent two years on Inter’s books between 1997 and 1999 then revealed where he feels the 22-year-old performs best.

“Does he give the options that Everton Ribeiro gives? Does he give the options that Vitinho and Bruno Henrique give on the left wing?

“The best moment of his career, last year, was when he was playing on the right wing, when he was splitting the opposing defences, with his speed.

“He is excellent at finishing but he needs to help the team a little more. I do not see him as a centre forward but rather a winger.”
