Milan mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has once again shared his views on the ongoing situation with regards to the future of San Siro.

For months now both Inter and Milan have looked set on the idea of building a new state-of-the-art ground to replace the dated San Siro.

“I see San Siro’s coexistence with a new stadium difficult, because such a large structure I fear would automatically lead to having to renounce the San Siro and, I will not hide it, it would be a pain,” he remarked in an interview with Calcio e Finanza.

“At the moment there is no date for a meeting with Inter and Milan, but I asked both clubs to come to me to clarify their ideas.

“To date we have only spoken to each other through journalists questions, it is not a good way to handle things. They have to bring me a project.”

He then went on to further assert his beliefs on what should happen with San Siro.

“I think my position is widely understood: I would prefer to renovate San Siro but as mayor, I cannot not listen to them if they propose to build a new stadium.”
