Inter will tomorrow meet with Cagliari to hold further talks over coveted midfielder Nicolo Barella according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri will reiterate their offer of €36 million plus €4 million in bonuses and Federico Dimarco to the Rossoblu.

Barella is considered an important element of the national team for the present and the future, but Inter believe there are alternatives with the same potential for cheaper. Antonio Conte, who is a huge admirer of Barella, will be able to move on, because along with Stefano Sensi, another midfielder is guaranteed to arrive.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to discuss which players could arrive if Inter are to abandon their pursuit for Barella.

Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini is an option as is Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic. With Donny van de Beek possibly headed for Barcelona, there would certainly be question marks above Rakitic’s future at the Nou Camp.

Inter have previously shown an interest in signing Rakitic but were forced to step back due to the Croatian international’s desire to remain with the Spanish champions.
