Nicolò Barella will choose between Inter and Roma in the next two days, according to Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini.

Inter have been the player’s preferred choice throughout negotiations but have been unwilling to meet the Rossoblu’s €50 million asking price.

Speaking outside the Lega Calcio’s headquarters this afternoon, Giulini said he hoped the 22-year-old’s future would be decided soon.

“We reached an agreement with Inter in terms of the fixed sum of money to pay on 11 June, which is the most important part of any deal,” he said.

“All we needed to sort out were the add-ons, but we haven’t heard from Inter in three weeks so I don’t know if they’re still interested in him.

“In the meantime Roma have arrived with an even more important offer and now it’s only fair Barella takes two days to make a decision on his future.

“Barella has never been inclined to choose anyone over anyone else. He’s never agreed personal terms with anyone and is taking some time to evaluate the new situation.”
