Inter Unlikely To Sign Edin Dzeko Or Romelu Lukaku Before Preseason Starts

Inter face an uphill battle to complete a deal for Edin Dzeko or Romelu Lukaku before preseason training begins next week, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Antonio Conte will only have Matteo Politano and a handful of young players available up front, with Lautaro Martinez at the Copa America and Mauro Icardi irretrievably out of favour.

Dzeko was thought to be on the verge of joining the Nerazzurri last week when it seemed Inter and Roma had finally reached an agreement for the Bosnian.

Roma’s subsequent approach for Nicolo Barella and Inter’s move for Lorenzo Pellegrini has created tension between the clubs, though, with another meeting scheduled for today.

The Sun this morning reported Lukaku would arrive at Manchester United’s training ground in Carrington today, as the Belgian looks to get back in shape for the new season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep the Belgian so he has ‘an important alternative’ to Marcus Rashford up front, but Lukaku has his mind set on joining Inter.

Inter will have to find an agreement with United both on a price and what formula to use, with their initial offer – a loan worth €10 million with an option to buy for €60 million – likely to be rejected.
