Inter are confident they can complete a deal for Nicolò Barella at their price and not Cagliari’s, according to La Repubblica.

Barella’s agent Alessandro Beltrami met representatives from Roma yesterday and confirmed the midfielder wanted to join the Nerazzurri.

The 22-year-old is already looking for a house in Milan and Inter believe his desire to sign for them will help them agree a smaller fee.

The club are waiting for time to pass until Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini is forced to drop his asking price, with no other offers on the table.

Inter also remain in a strong position to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma, having agreed personal terms with the Bosnian.

The Nerazzurri are still a long way short of the capital club’s €20 million asking price, but they are opting to wait instead of raising their offer.

Dzeko could even join on a free transfer next summer if the standby continues.

Roma have dreamed of replacing Dzeko with Mauro Icardi but the striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has ruled out a move to the Giallorossi.
