Inter’s bid to sign Lorenzo Pellegrini from Roma is doomed to failure as the midfielder wants to stay with the Giallorossi, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri recently made an approach for the Italian international, who has a €30 million release clause in his contract.

Pellegrini has reassured his teammates and the club’s management he has no intention of using it to leave, however.

“Lorenzo will never see Roma as a chain around his neck,” the paper reported this morning.

“He’s grown up at Trigoria and asked his teammates: ‘where would I go if I left here?’

“If he had any degree of uncertainty over his future he would not have welcomed Leonardo Spinazzola to the club two days ago.”

Juventus were also interested in signing the 23-year-old, having just acquired his namesake Luca Pellegrini in a swap deal with Spinazzola.

Pellegrini scored four goals and created seven assists in all competitions last season as Roma finished sixth in Serie A.
