Nicolò Barella will ultimately have the final say on whether he signs for Inter or Roma this summer, Sky Sport reported today.

Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini yesterday revealed he had agreed a deal for the midfielder to join the Giallorossi, before saying he had not heard from Inter in ’20 days’.

However, Barella has made his decision and he wants to move to Inter, meaning the Nerazzurri are still firmly in the driver’s seat.

“The player remains convinced Inter are the best option for him to keep developing,” transfer expert Luca Marchetti said.

“Inter will play in the Champions League, they’re the first club who made an approach for him and Barella knows he’s on good terms with Antonio Conte.”

Roma’s agreement with Cagliari means things could still change before the 22-year-old’s future is resolved.

Barella seems unlikely to change his mind, though, not least because he comes from a family of Inter supporters and had a soft spot for them as a child.
