Antonio Conte played a decisive role in convincing Valentino Lazaro to join Inter this summer, the player’s agent told FcInter1908 today.

Lazaro’s arrival was officially announced by the Nerazzurri yesterday after he signed a four-year deal from Hertha Berlin.

Max Hagmayr revealed Inter first contacted him about the midfielder in February when they played Rapid Vienna in the Europa League.

“Valentino is enthusiastic about the prospect of playing for a big club like Inter and he wants to win Serie A,” Hagmayr said.

“There were several clubs following him but in the end we chose Inter because the whole package convinced us: the club, the fans, the Champions League, the city…

“The main reason we accepted was having Antonio Conte as coach, though. He can make Valentino a much better player. The meeting we had with him was crucial in our decision-making process.”

Hagmayr said he was ‘very impressed’ by Inter president Steven Zhang and assured supporters his client was ready to take on his new challenge.

“Valentino told Hertha very quickly he wanted to play with Inter next season. The negotiations between the clubs were very difficult but it ended well eventually.”
