Nicolò Barella would be perfectly adapted to Antonio Conte’s style of play if he signs for Inter, according to his Cagliari teammate Simone Padoin.

The midfielder has his heart set on a move to the Nerazzurri and is waiting for them to make Tommaso Giulini a satisfactory offer.

Padoin described Barella as ‘a good lad and a great player’ and assured he was ready to make the step up to a big club.

“The way he’s constantly matured in the last few years has really impressed me,” Padoin told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“I’ve seen him improve in every aspect of his game and I’m sure he can still become a lot better.

“You’ll have to ask him whether he’ll join Inter or Roma but he’ll do brilliantly wherever he goes. Personally I think he’s the perfect midfielder for Antonio Conte’s footballing philosophy, though.”

Padoin spent three years playing for Conte at Juventus and backed him to ‘raise the bar’ during his tenure with the Nerazzurri.

However, the Cagliari midfielder was skeptical about his chances of challenging the Bianconeri’s dominance in Serie A this season.

“I honestly think Juventus are still clear favourites for the Scudetto ahead of everyone else,” Padoin added.

“It’ll be a pleasure to see Conte back in Italy regardless, though. I only have good memories of working with him and I wish him the best at Inter.

“Conte is a born winner who can change the mentality of his players. Inter have appointed a great coach.”
