Former Inter defender Corrado Verdelli will be appointed head of the club’s scouting network soon, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Verdelli made 57 appearances for the Nerazzurri and was part of the side that won the 1988-89 Serie A title under Giovanni Trapattoni.
He has been working as a scout for several years but will now take up a more senior role as head of the so-called ‘007’.
Piero Ausilio has filled the position on an interim basis over the last two years but will now move aside for Verdelli.
Inter revamped their scouting system under Ausilio in 2017 in an attempt to streamline their operations.
Verdelli was one of seven scouts tasked with finding players to join Inter’s first-team, including fellow 1989 Scudetto winners Beppe Baresi and Gianfranco Matteoli.
Inter beat off competition from Diego Maradona’s Napoli and Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan by setting what was then a record points total in an 18-team league.
