Fabio Capello has backed Antonio Conte to achieve success at Inter and talked up the club’s owners Suning.

Conte has been appointed on a three-year deal by the Nerazzurri and hopes to challenge Juventus for the Serie A title this season.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the former Juve and Milan coach also reserved words of praise for Beppe Marotta.

“A lot of people were looking for Conte so if he chose Inter there must be a reason,” Capello said.

“I’ve worked with Suning. They have huge economic power and the right kind of ambition.

“My experience tells me Inter needed Marotta and now he has arrived to give them more know-how.”

Capello also defended Juve’s new boss Maurizio Sarri from accusations he is a traitor.

“We’re professionals,” he reminded everyone.

“Just think about Jose Mourinho, the man who won Inter the treble. He said he’d never manage another club after Chelsea and then he went to Manchester United.

“All you can do is give your best wherever you are, people will judge you on results.”
