Inter could turn to former Juventus and Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente if their pursuit for Edin Dzeko fails, according to Tuttosport.

Roma have slapped a €20 million price tag on the Bosnian and the tension created by their approach for Nicolo Barella means they are determined not to lower it.

The paper today reported Dzeko will have to force the Giallorossi’s hand if he wants to join the Nerazzurri, otherwise Llorente will emerge as Plan B.

Llorente became a free agent on Sunday after his contract with Spurs expired and would enable Inter to plow more money into another area of the team.

Inter’s position in the race to sign Barella was strengthened yesterday when the player’s agent Alessandro Beltrami again met Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.

Beltrami confirmed Barella’s desire to sign for Inter remained intact when the parties met in the club’s new offices.

However, winning the race for the 22-year-old could lead Inter to lose their quest to bring Dzeko to San Siro.

Llorente played for Antonio Conte at Juventus in the 2013-14 season, scoring 16 goals in Serie A.
