Inter will unite two of Serie A’s most generous players this season if Nicolo Barella joins Marcelo Brozovic in midfield.

Tuttosport today highlighted how both players finished in Italy’s top three for distance covered last year, making them ideal for Antonio Conte’s intense style of play.

Brozovic ran further than anyone else with an average of 11,864m per game, while Barella was third with 11,668m behind Bologna’s Adam Nagy (11,776m).

The Hungarian international made only 14 appearances last season, though, compared to the others’ 32 and 35 respectively.

Brozovic will carry a heavy burden in Conte’s Inter as he is asked to create most of the Nerazzurri’s attacking moves.

Luciano Spalletti’s successful transformation of the Croatian was described as ‘the most important legacy’ he left for Conte, turning him into a top level European play-maker.

The paper advised Conte he will need to help Brozovic manage his energy levels throughout games, which in the past have dropped too quickly and damaged the quality of his passing.
