Nicolò Barella has promised Antonio Conte he will sign for Inter in a series of phone conversations between the pair, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The midfielder has chosen the Nerazzurri for their future plans, the possibility to play in the Champions League and the fact they were the first club to seek him out with determination after he rejected Napoli in January.

Inter have made Cagliari what they consider a final offer and told the Rossoblu to either take it or leave it.

Roma have an agreement with Tommaso Giulini for €35 million plus Gregoire Defrel but do not expect the saga to develop in their favour anytime soon.

The Giallorossi are Giulini’s preferred destination for Barella but have arranged a meeting with Fiorentina to discuss Jordan Veretout, indicating their pessimism about the deal.

Cagliari will not resolve their star player’s future in short order unless Giulini can convince Barella to accept Roma or receive an improved offer from Inter.

Barella’s agent Alessandro Beltrami met Inter at their offices in Milan yesterday and reiterated his client’s desire to sign for them.
