Inter could be forced to keep Borja Valero for another season due to the Spaniard’s wage demands, according to Tuttosport.

Valero earns €3 million with the Nerazzurri and this has already discouraged Fiorentina from attempting to resign him.

Inter want €2.5-3 million to part company with the 34-year-old as they look to revamp their options in midfield.

No club has shown signs of wanting to meet that asking price, though, making it likely Valero will stay put for now.

Borja made 38 appearances in all competitions for Inter last season as the Nerazzurri finished fourth in Serie A and were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage.

He created just one assist all year under Luciano Spalletti, which came in their 3-0 win against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in October.

Valero started both of Inter’s Europa League matches against Eintracht Frankfurt, attracting criticism for playing too slowly as they were eliminated from the tournament.
