Inter’s bargaining position in talks for Nicolò Barella was strengthened today after Roma’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi confirmed the Giallorossi are out of the race.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolò Schira‏ tweeted this evening to confirm Cagliari now ‘have their backs against the wall’, because the Nerazzurri are the only interested club left.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have offered €36+4 million for the 22-year-old and could increase the add-ons slightly.

“Inter will not let Cagliari grab them round the neck,” Schira said.

Barella has agreed a five-year deal worth €2.5 million per season.
