Inter will struggle to complete a deal to sign Nicolò Barella if they do not increase their offer to Cagliari, Corriere dello Sport warned this morning.

Barella has rejected Napoli and Roma and is only interested in a move to the Nerazzurri, but his desire on its own is not enough to secure a transfer.

The player believes he has done his bit for the club by turning down two offers that were bigger than Inter’s, and now hopes they will bid more money.

Cagliari want €50 million to sell the 22-year-old and reached that fee during negotiations with Roma, but Inter have only offered €36 million plus €4 million in add-ons.

Inter could edge towards the Rossoblu’s asking price by raising their add-ons and throwing in a loan deal for another player, such as Federico Dimarco, Alessandro Bastoni or Jiangsu Suning striker Eder.

Barella hopes Inter and Cagliari can reach an agreement so he does not miss the opportunity to make a big step up in his career.
