Inter could sign free agent Fernando Llorente instead of Edin Dzeko in order to spend more money on Romelu Lukaku, according to Libero.

Llorente’s contract with Tottenham expired last weekend and is therefore more economically viable than Dzeko, for whom Inter are struggling to reach an agreement with Roma.

Antonio Conte wants to sign Lukaku at all costs but Inter cannot afford to meet Manchester United’s asking price at present.

Llorente scored eight goals for Spurs last season as they finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the Champions League final.

Libero also confirmed Inter will succeed in their bid to sign Nicolò Barella from Cagliari, saying the player’s desire to join the Nerazzurri will make the difference.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio do not want to raise their offer of €36 million plus €4 million in add-ons, but the Rossoblu are holding out for €50 million.

Elsewhere, Inter remain determined to sell Radja Nainggolan after meeting the midfielder’s agent Alessandro Beltrami – who also manages Barella – yesterday.

Antonio Conte does not consider the Belgian part of his plans for this season and hopes both Nainggolan and Mauro Icardi will be sold soon.

Icardi has agreed a five-year deal with Juventus worth €8 million per season, but he will take part in Inter’s preseason training camp as normal.

Wanda Nara is in continual contact with the Bianconeri’s sporting director Fabio Paratici but it seems no move is imminent for now.
