Inter hope to secure the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United prior to departing for their pre-season tour in Asia according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Belgian striker is believed to be Inter’s top transfer target for the Summer transfer window but they have so far struggled to reach a deal with his current employers, who have stood firm with their demands for the 26-year-old.

Next week the two clubs will sit down for more talks with a view to closing a deal for the player, as per the Milan based news outlet.

Manchester United are keen to re-coup as much as possible on their initial investment in the striker they paid €85 million for just two years ago.

Inter meanwhile value him at around €60 million and that has been reflected in their initial offers for him, which were knocked back.

Inter have already tried to offer Ivan Perisic plus cash for Lukaku and also offered a similar deal involving Mauro Icardi. A bid to take him on loan with a redemption obligation was also rejected.

Inter are not scared by the difficulties they have faced and the fact United seem intent on receiving cash only for him. They are determined to get the deal done even without selling Icardi. Moreover, the report states that Inter are not worried by Juventus’ reported interest in the former Everton striker.
