Former Inter owner and president Massimo Moratti has revealed he is excited to see newly appointed manager Antonio Conte’s Inter in action.

“I am genuinely curious to see Conte’s Inter. I think the quality of the Coach means he can achieve great things here,” he is quoted as saying by news agency ANSA.

“The fact he had a past at Juventus is irrelevant, this is a professional who was in charge of many teams, including the Nazionale. Of course, this is a big test, because it’s not easy to be the Coach of Inter.”

Moratti, who was at the top of the Nerazzurri for close to two decades, then went on to speak about Inter’s transfer targets for the striker department.

“Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku are very good strikers. One is very talented, the other very physical, but I still say Mauro Icardi is better than both of them.”

He then went on to speak about Icardi’s situation at the club in more detail.

“The Icardi issue is more complicated and delicate than anything I had to deal with during my time in charge. I am not interested in his social media behaviour, as I only judged players on their behaviour in training and on the pitch. If he should end up at Juventus, then the Bianconeri would become a super squad.”

He concluded by giving his thoughts on this coming season’s race for the title in Serie A.

“Juve start out the season as Scudetto favourites, followed by Napoli and then Inter, but the Nerazzurri have created an incredible defence: Samir Handanovic, Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Diego Godin represent excellence for the Champions League, too. Godin is a leader and Inter now have the strongest defence in Serie A.”
