Inter and Juventus could start negotiations for Mauro Icardi as early as next week, according to Sky Sport.

The Bianconeri are the only club Icardi would consider joining if he leaves, albeit he remains hopeful he can stay.

Juventus already have Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic behind Cristiano Ronaldo in attack and will probably need to sell both if Icardi arrives.

However, it seems the Serie A champions are willing to open official talks with Inter now and deal with trimming their squad at a later date.

Napoli are also interested in signing Icardi, with Sky reporting last week that Inter would prefer to give their former captain to the Partenopei.

Aurelio De Laurentiis and his colleagues are thought to be very pessimistic, though, because Icardi is not considering any destination besides Juventus.

Antonio Conte has excluded Icardi and Radja Nainggolan from Inter’s tactical drills during the first two days of preseason training in Switzerland.

Both are also expected to miss out on Sunday’s first friendly against Lugano.
