Matteo Politano will miss Inter’s first three preseason friendlies this summer after picking up a thigh strain yesterday, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri face Lugano in their first fixture under Antonio Conte on Sunday, before flying out to Asia for matches against Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

The forward hopes to return for Inter’s clash with PSG in Macau on 27 July, before Conte’s side return to play Tottenham and Valencia back in Europe.

Conte is without Lautaro Martinez until the end of July while Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku have not signed yet, meaning he currently has no first-team forwards to work with.

Mauro Icardi remains available for Inter but the club’s former captain has been frozen out of the squad at their Swiss training camp.

Inter fly out to China on Tuesday and Politano will be present on the plane, but it remains to be seen how much football he will get to play on tour.
