Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has confirmed Inter’s optimism on the Romelu Lukaku front.

Inter have been heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old striker but are facing difficulty when it comes to striking a deal with the Premier League club, who are reportedly demanding €88 million for him.

The Nerazzurri are believed to value Lukaku, who has already agreed personal terms, at around €60 million. Further talks between the clubs are expected to take place shortly and it remains to be seen if the next talks will be the last talks but given how talks have went so far, it probably will not be the last time they meet.

Speaking prior to Samir Handanovic’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s first pre-season friendly with Lugano, Marotta answered some questions, one of which concerned the Manchester United striker.

“Am I optimistic about Lukaku? Yes, I am optimistic about everything,” he told the gathered media.
