During an interview with De Telegraaf, former Inter coach Frank de Boer once again blamed the way in which the club was run for his failings on the touchline. Here is what he had to say:

“Mine is a very young club: there are no ex-presidents or directors with a lot of influence. At Inter, a player’s agent came to me and once said: “If I knew you wouldn’t let my player play, I would never have given permission for you to become coach.” This should help people to understand how far their influence within the club extends.

“I think it is inconceivable that there was no disciplinary action against him. In this sense, working here in America is much more relaxing. I’m sure I would have been good for Inter if they had been a little more patient. Inside, I am still disappointed at not being able to prove what I could do there. I want to show once again that I can succeed in high-level European football.”
