Stefan de Vrij was feeling positive after Inter’s first pre-season run-out in the 2-1 victory over Swiss side Lugano last night.

“Things are going very well, we’re working a lot physically and technically. We have put some gas in our legs so we can be better prepared. The formation has changed with Conte,” he told the gathered media after the match.

The Dutchman then spoke further on the change of system.

“With three at the back, things inevitably change but that should not be a problem for us. We have to work on it and that is what we are doing.”

He then spoke briefly on how Antonio Conte’s way of working helps the team.

“He makes us understand what he wants from us through what he tells us.”

He concluded by admitting he and the team have no interest in the ongoing saga involving striker Mauro Icardi, who, in agreement with the club, was sent home from the pre-season retreat.

“The Icardi situation does not concern us. We are only thinking about what we have to do.”
