Inter are considering taking a huge financial risk by signing Romelu Lukaku without selling Mauro Icardi first, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Lukaku is a fundamental player for Antonio Conte, who does not believe he can implement his style of play without the Belgian.

Inter are therefore contemplating a change of strategy, which would see them invest heavily in the striker now and worry about how to recoup the money later.

“At the moment it’s a difficult scenario to imagine, but if Inter decided they wanted to satisfy Conte’s request then it cannot be excluded,” the paper reported this morning.

Suning would have to approve the risky move first, given it would be ‘an investment without any collateral’.

Juventus last summer proved it can be a successful strategy, though, when the Bianconeri signed Cristiano Ronaldo and then sold various players in the months that followed.

Duvan Zapata is the only realistic alternative to Lukaku on the market at present, given the Colombian boasts similar characteristics.
