Former Inter striker Hernan Crespo is confident Lautaro Martinez will remain a part of Argentina’s national team for years to come.

El Toro scored twice for the Albiceleste as they reached the semi-finals of this summer’s Copa America, opening the scoring in wins against Qatar and Venezuela.

Crespo told TNT Sport the 21-year-old had ‘great personality’, before adding that he was not surprised to see him playing so well for his country.

“Lautaro really impressed me when he arrived at Inter,” Crespo said.

“I saw him make his debut and he won San Siro over immediately, despite the fact he was replacing someone like Mauro Icardi.

“We shouldn’t talk about him as the future of the national team yet but he has everything to remain in the Argentina squad.”

Lautaro scored nine goals in his debut campaign for Inter and will begin preseason training with Antonio Conte when his summer holidays end on 28 July.
