Inter will find it extremely difficult to meet Manchester United’s €83 million asking price for Romelu Lukaku, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Reports in the English media yesterday suggested Inter were preparing a new increased offer, while Spanish paper AS claimed a deal was done.

The Italian media remain far more prudent, however, with Gazzetta reminding readers of the problems at hand.

“The impression you get is that United are in a hurry to work out if Inter are willing to meet their asking price, which has never changed,” they wrote this morning.

“The €83 million is too high for Inter, who could at most reach €65 million payable in three years which rises to €70 million with bonuses.”

“The distance exists and it’s unlikely it will be reduced.”

Lukaku remains hopeful Inter will reach an agreement so he can join up with new boss Antonio Conte.

However, his future with the Nerazzurri is ‘anything but guaranteed’ and it appears time is starting to run out.
