Inter intend to offer Lautaro Martinez a contract extension in the coming weeks, according to Calciomercato.com

The forward was recently linked with a move to Barcelona, with reports in Spain suggesting the La Liga champions were willing to trigger his €120 million release clause.

Both Antonio Conte and the Nerazzurri’s hierarchy have no intention of letting Lautaro go, though, as they want him to be a key player moving forward.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio already want to tie him down to a new deal, having only signed the 21-year-old from Racing Avellaneda last summer.

Lautaro impressed for Argentina at last month’s Copa America, scoring twice in wins over Qatar and Venezuela.

The 21-year-old stood out more than Lionel Messi, with whom he appeared to strike up a good understanding, and convinced the Albiceleste’s boss Lionel Scaroni to pick him ahead of Sergio Aguero.

Argentina lost to Brazil in the semi-finals, in a match they believed was influenced by poor officiating.
