Mauro Icardi is now open to joining Napoli as well as Juventus, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Bianconeri remain the forward’s first choice should he leave Inter, because they are much closer to Milan and would enable him to stay at the new €8.5 million house he bought recently.

Napoli are beginning to entice him on the grounds that he is a first choice for them, though, along with the fact Icardi is an admirer of Carlo Ancelotti.

Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli met Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara last week and explained the plans Napoli had for Icardi, before assuring he would be the team’s highest paid player.

Icardi’s salary in Naples might not be in double figures like Wanda had hoped when she was negotiating a contract extension with Inter, but it would be easily above the €5.1 million he earns at present.

Napoli’s plan would be to agree personal terms first and then start talks with Inter, who want €60-70 million.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio would prefer to sell their former captain to the Partenopei as opposed to Juve, who have not come forward properly yet.

Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic will need to be offloaded before they can move for Icardi whereas Napoli do not need to wait.
