Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer today admitted he cannot understand why Romelu Lukaku would want to leave the club to join Inter.

The Norweigian left Lukaku out of his squad for their preseason friendly against Leeds in Perth, sparking further rumours about how talks were going with the Nerazzurri.

Antonio Conte has made the striker his no. 1 transfer target, having already tried to sign him at Juventus and Chelsea.

Asked if he could understand the mentality of players wanting to leave United, Solskjaer said: “No. The ones who want to leave now haven’t been here when it’s been successful.

“It is the best feeling you can ever have as a footballer to be at this football club when we’re successful and hopefully they want to be part of that – and I want to be part of that.”

Inter’s latest offer is reported by Sky Sports News as being €67 million plus bonuses, but United want more than the €88 million they paid to sign Lukaku in 2017.
