Inter’s €3 million asking price for Borja Valero is considered too much by the midfielder’s former club Fiorentina, according to FcInterNews.it.

The clubs met three times between Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the possibility of sending Valero back to Florence, where Vincenzo Montella is waiting with open arms.

Fiorentina are looking to sign the 34-year-old on the cheap, though, perhaps almost for nothing considering his age.

Both clubs are keen to agree a deal, with a move described as ‘much more than just a possibility’, but they will need to make their valuations match.

Valero earns €3 million with Inter, having now entered the final year of his contract, and his wage demands could represent another stumbling block.

Fiorentina would want to guarantee him the same salary but in a two-year deal worth €1.5 million per season, whereas the player is hoping for €2 million annually.

Piero Ausilio met Daniele Prade in a five-star Milanese hotel yesterday before Inter’s vice-sporting director Dario Baccin joined them for dinner.

The idea of taking Valero back to Florence first came from Davide Lippi, an intermediary figure who is close to Borja’s agent Alejandro Camano, who met Prade on Tuesday.

The parties will continue working on the deal in the coming days, as Inter explore the possibility of offloading a midfielder who is unlikely to play much under Antonio Conte.
