Matteo Politano and Stefano Sensi are both capable of contributing a healthy number of goals at Inter next season, according to their former coach Giuseppe Iachini.

Both players joined the Nerazzurri from Sassuolo and are likely to start for Antonio Conte’s new-look XI.

Iachini backed Politano to reach double figures this season while encouraging Sensi to up his own goal tally.

“Stefano can score five or six goals per season with that right-foot of his,” Iachini told FcInterNews.it today.

“I think he’s best suited to being a play-maker but his talent and skill set means he can play on the outside of a midfield three too.

“Politano is perfect to play as a striker in Conte’s 3-5-2 system. That’s where I played him at Sassuolo, so that I didn’t have to leave him out when I decided to change system.

“Matteo is lethal as a second striker because he’s closer to the goal and can therefore cause much more damage to opposition sides.”

Iachini was impressed with Sensi’s Inter debut against Lugano last week and said he had everything to succeed at San Siro.

“He combines quality with a willingness to work and put the team first,” he added.

“I played him in central midfield because I noticed he was great at reading the game and playing forward passes. Stefano is the ideal catapult for any team’s attacking play.”

Iachini was then asked about Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala, two more former players of his, and urged Inter and Juventus not to discard the idea of a swap deal.

“They’re both great players and they’d be equally important for their new teams if they switched,” he assured.

“Perhaps, given the current state of affairs, they would both be more useful and decisive at their new clubs. They’re both difference makers, there’s not much to add.

“Dybala is more creative than most of Inter’s players so I think he’d do well in Milan. Juventus would also be making a great signing with Icardi though.

“Mauro still has his entire career ahead of him and there are very few players like him in front of goal. His numbers speak for themselves.”
