Antonio Conte will place his faith in George Puscas and Sebastiano Esposito this week as Inter prepare to compete in the International Champions Cup without first-team forwards.
Corriere dello Sport recalled how the Nerazzurri can only call upon reserves and youngsters for the preseason tour in Asia, complicating Conte’s preparation for the new campaign.
Puscas made seven appearances for Inter back in 2015 and has spent the following four years on loan with Bari, Benevento, Novara and Palermo, scoring 31 goals in total.
Esposito, nicknamed ‘Mister 31 goals’ by the paper, played in six different competitions last year across various age groups, making his senior debut as Inter lost to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
“How could Inter not trust a player who keeps scoring, even when he’s playing for his country?” Corriere asked this morning.
“14 goals in 20 caps for Italy’s under-17s are numbers which did not escape the attention of clubs like Roma and Cagliari [during talks with Inter for Edin Dzeko and Nicolo Barella].
“Esposito has the keys to the future. Perhaps the International Champions Cup could be the first step in that direction.”
Inter will play their first match against Manchester United tomorrow before facing Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain next week.
