Nicolò Barella spoke for the first time as an Inter player today and described the Nerazzurri as ‘the best club for me’.
The midfielder finally completed a move from Cagliari last week and has joined Antonio Conte’s side for their preseason tour in Asia.
Barella might make his debut in tomorrow’s International Champions Cup match against Manchester United, albeit it seems unlikely he will start.
“I have an extremely good feeling being here,” the 22-year-old said in a press conference.
“Inter wanted me strongly and I’ll try and repay their faith in me. I’ve joined up with my teammates a bit late and I’ll try and reach full fitness as quickly as possible.
“I’m super convinced by Inter’s project. I’m ambitious and I want to improve. The training sessions have been tough so far but we have a great coach and they’ll be useful further down the line.
“I’m trying to get up to speed with everyone else. The coach is asking a lot from us so we have to give a lot.”
Barella joined Inter on loan with an obligation to buy, with bonuses likely to take the final fee up to €45 million.
