Antonio Conte left little room for interpretation yesterday when he criticised Inter’s slow transfer activity, as Corriere della Sera reported today.

Inter lost against Manchester United in their first International Champions Cup match today, which Conte was forced to play without any first-choice forwards.

The Italian picked Samuele Longo and Sebastiano Esposito up front as he awaits Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko’s arrivals.

“Conte is unhappy and he made his feelings clear to Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio in Friday’s press conference,” the paper said.

“He wanted to make sure Steven Zhang and his father Zhang Jindong were listening as well.”

Zhang will be in the stands on Wednesday when Inter face Juventus in Nanjing, Suning’s home city.

Conte did not expect he would be playing the match with only reserves and youngsters up front, but Inter’s sluggish progress in the market means he is left with little alternative.

Inter will also play Paris Saint-Germain in Macau on 27 July before returning to Europe, where they face Tottenham and Valencia next month.
