Inter Were ‘Not Surprised’ By Conte’s Criticisms Of Nerazzurri’s Transfer Activity

Inter’s management were not surprised to hear Antonio Conte criticise the club’s transfer activity yesterday, according to Tuttosport.

Conte struggled to hide his frustration when asked about the Nerazzurri’s bid to sign Romelu Lukaku, telling reporters Inter were behind schedule.

Beppe Marotta knows Conte well, however, having worked with him at Juventus, and gave advance warning during Inter’s season-opening press conference two weeks ago.

“We’re working to build a competitive squad, but a club has a duty to balance ambitious objectives with the need to remain in order financially,” Inter’s CEO said at the time.

“We’ll need to be patient and I’m saying this to the coach as well.”

Conte fielded questions both in Italian and English on Friday, making use of his international experience while managing Chelsea.

Inter’s hierarchy must hope the Nerazzurri do not flop in this week’s preseason friendlies in Asia, otherwise their head coach’s mood will worsen even further.
