Inter are losing hope of signing Romelu Lukaku as Manchester United remain inflexible on their asking price, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri had a fresh offer worth €65 million, to be paid over several years, officially rejected by the Red Devils this weekend.

Antonio Conte will attempt to persuade Inter’s hierarchy to keep pushing for Lukaku when they meet in a transfer summit in China.

“Their talks in Nanjing will provide either the red or green light for one final push,” Gazzetta reported this morning.

“Inter weren’t surprised their offer was rejected. They are too far away from United’s €83 million asking price and it will remain that way unless they can sell some players soon.”

Inter are pessimistic about their chances of securing Lukaku now but they have yet to give up definitively on the Belgian.

Ivan Perisic is likely to leave after Conte confirmed he was not suited to playing at wing-back, and the Croatian’s sale could provide the necessary funds.

Lukaku exchanged pleasantries with Conte at full-time yesterday and was later seen wearing an Inter shirt in the mixed zone at the National Stadium.

Conte’s charm offensive for the forward then proceeded without haste when he arrived for his post-match press conference.

“I like Romelu and I think he could improve our team,” he told reporters.

“On the one hand there’s what I hope for, but on the other we need to sell what the club manages to do.”

Lukaku missed the match in Singapore after picking up a knock in training.
