Roma’s new sporting director Gianluca Petrachi wants to sign Danilo D’Ambrosio as part of Inter’s deal for Edin Dzeko, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Petrachi signed D’Ambrosio for Torino in 2010 and remains a big admirer of the 30-year-old, who enjoyed arguably his best season yet for Inter last year.

Roma are targeting a right-back in the transfer market after delivering Jordan Veretout to their new boss Paulo Fonseca.

Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj is a name the Giallorossi are studying, but D’Ambrosio would cost ‘much less’ and is therefore an easier option.

Dzeko remains in waiting in the capital after agreeing personal terms with Inter a long time ago, according to various reports.

The Bosnian wants to join up with Antonio Conte in Milan but it is difficult to imagine Inter completing a deal in short order, especially if D’Ambrosio continues to be requested.

The right-back was not expected to leave Milan this summer and reportedly began talks over a new deal last month.

D’Ambrosio helped Inter secure Champions League qualification last season with two decisive goal-line clearances against Milan and Empoli.
