Inter CEO Marotta: “After The Appropriate Assessments Are Made, We’ll Act Accordingly”

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has confirmed that the club will back the decisions Antonio Conte makes when it comes to his desires for the squad.

“I know what Antonio is like and I can assure you that we are in perfect harmony. We are all working for the good of Inter,” he began the interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He is a very demanding professional and these very hard and decisive expressions, besides being a stimulus for us all, confirm this.

“The leadership intend to build a strong team. With Conte, a new era has begun at the club and it is normal that we must try to comply with him while respecting the financial aspect as we do not want to end up under UEFA restrictions again. We take the rules of Finanancial Fair Play seriously.

Marotta then spoke on Conte’s request for two strikers to be signed.

“The attacking department needs special attention and we understand the difficulties which Antonio is working with at the moment with him not having strikers which limits things.

“We must have patience and weigh up all the players. Conte has just arrived and we started running. You will see that next year we will be even more ready and aligned.

“What stage are negotiations for Lukaku at? I don’t wish to go into details because it is not appropriate. We want two strikers, they will replace Keita Balde and Mauro Icardi. As for the rest of the squad, much of the work has already been done and are in place, or at least almost.”

He was then asked about the lack of movement on the exit front with several players reportedly on the market.

“We are in a moment in which Conte is making his evaluations and we will accompany him in his choices. After the appropriate assessments are made, we will act accordingly.”

Marotta was then asked about the futures of Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan in particular.

“There has been contact and things have started to move.”
