AS Roma are considering the possibility of offering Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko a contract extension, if no breakthrough in the negotiations with Inter for the player occurs soon, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

The Giallorossi are considering to take the former Manchester City striker off the market and begin formal talks over a contract extension, which would tie him to the club past his current contract which expires at the end of June 2020.

Newly appointed Roma coach Fonseca is also considering appointing Dzeko as a captain in an upcoming friendly, further showing that the Giallorossi have no intentions of letting their star striker leave too easily.

According to the report, Inter are running out of time for both of their two main transfer targets for the striker position, with negotiations for Romelu Lukaku with Manchester United dragging out as the closing of the transfer window for the Premier League looms ever closer.
