Matteo Politano will not recover from his thigh injury in time to play Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Inter forward missed the first two matches on the Nerazzurri’s preseason tour in Asia, but was hoping to feature against the French champions in Macao.
Politano is returning to fitness slowly and came back into first-team training yesterday with a personalised program.
He will be fully available for Antonio Conte when Inter return to Europe next Sunday, ahead of the clash against Tottenham on 4 August.
Conte was already due to be without Lautaro Martinez for the tour in Asia, but Politano’s thigh problem has meant he is working without any first-choice forwards at all.
Samuele Longo and Sebastiano Esposito started the defeat to Manchester United on Saturday and only George Puscas has flown out to join his teammates since.
Politano contributed five goals and seven assists during his debut league campaign for Inter, having joined from Sassuolo on loan with an option to buy.
The 25-year-old has since been signed on a permanent basis for €20 million, although he was linked with a surprising move away from Inter in Tuesday’s papers.
