Roma To Send Inter Message By Making Edin Dzeko Captain For Next Preseason Friendly

Roma will make Edin Dzeko captain for their next preseason friendly tomorrow in an attempt to coax Inter into upping their offer for the Bosnian, according to Sky Sport.

Dzeko has already scored in both of their first two matches under Paulo Fonseca and will wear the armband against Serie C club Gubbio.

Roma still want €20 million to part company with the 33-year-old and intend to keep him if no such bid arrives.

Antonio Conte is impatiently waiting for a centre-forward at Inter and this news will not go down well as he continues preseason training in China.

Inter were forced to play with Ivan Perisic and Sebastiano Esposito up front on Wednesday as they drew with Juventus in the International Champions Cup.

Samuele Longo and George Puscas are the only other forwards currently available, after Matteo Politano picked up a thigh injury two weeks ago.

Dzeko scored 14 goals in all competitions for Roma last season as they finished sixth in Serie A and reached the Champions League last 16.

He is thought to have agreed personal terms already with Inter, but it seems he will have to wait a little longer before his wish of joining Conte is granted.
